Our Story

IOLA HIGH SCHOOL

Iola High School Career & Technical Education teachers and administration dream BIG! Follow us on our journey as we engage every student that walks through the halls of IHS in a chosen career path.

Iola, Kansas is a rural community in southeast Kansas that has a total population of 5,704 residents. Iola has the nation's largest town square, which is a wonderful benefit when this tight knit community comes together for Farm City Days every October.

Iola is the county seat of Allen County. Allen County hosts several local businesses and industries. Russel Stovers, Gates, Precision Engineering, and B & W Trailer Hitches are just a few of the job opportunities students have to stay in Allen County and continue to raise their own families someday.

With less than 20% of the graduating class of 2018 going to college, Iola High School recognizes the need for students to learn valuable career and technical skills. One of the biggest needs in Allen County, Kansas, is for the great residents to see a future for this community. The community needs to educate students with the technical skills to be able to go into the workforce after high school. For every four tradesmen retiring from the workforce, only one is entering. Kansas, as well as the nation, need industry and to bring industry into Allen County, we need skilled tradesmen.

It is the goal of Iola's CTE program to graduate students with an industry recognized credential preparing them to enter the workforce following graduation.  We currently have 19 pathways and we desire to grow even more as we seek the best opportunities for our students.
